Some challenges are easy; some are like trying to balance a sword on a bubble. The brief for PRJT Nichibotsu was one of those: create a stunning, multi‑colour project that defies expectations, all while maintaining the lightest possible weight of the frame. An impossible task? Not for us.

Think of it as the automotive designer’s paradox. You want a bike that screams loud with colour but whispers softly with its weight. Layered hues and micro‑relief textures are masterpieces of technical art, requiring multiple coats, masking, curing — pushing the boundaries of what paint can do. Yet, every layer adds weight. Our challenge? Build a visual spectacle without turning the frame into a bricks-and-mortar sculpture.

The solution was in the science — mineral‑based ‘secret sauces’ that give vibrancy and depth without bulk. Ultra thin translucent paints (Raw Lacquer), custom-developed interference pigments, and anti‑layer processes that stack hues so finely applied it’s practically weightless.

The paint system incorporates micro‑relief effects, not only for visual intrigue but to optimize surface tension, allowing us to add complexity without the weight penalty. Oltre in Italian translates as Beyond. Thus we had very literally and figuratively lifted our project influence based on it.
What we have gone beyond:
1. Instead of Celeste, we have gone for a premium paint that reacts to light with a shine of gold or pink blush, resembling the dusk or dawn sky of Milan, Italy.
2. Gone away with classic Campagnolo black brake callipers for a pair of limited edition Cane Creek EEbrakes.
3. Re-imaged Bianchi's logo for a Vibrant, Sportful and Classy take.

So Bici Bottega did what it always does: poured every Italian sexy sauce it owns over a canvas that already sings — the Bianchi Oltre XR4 rim‑brake — and turned the result into PRJT LUMA, a paint scheme that behaves like Milan at the edge of day.

Forget Celeste. We chased something more mercurial: a premium interference system that reacts to light, shifting from whispering gold to a soft pink blush — the precise colours of dawn and dusk when Milan holds its breath between cathedral spires and coffee steam. From some angles the frame reads gilded, like a building catching the first sun; tilt it, and a coy, rosy halo blooms along the tubes, a fleeting blush that says more than any decal ever could.

PRJT LUMA spots Jewel-like finishing touches combined with the raw, analogue, mechanical vintage race car vibe. We literally very broke into the creative vaults of De Tomaso Automobilli (Ciao Bello) and stole some top secret design archives to create PRJT LUMA.

his is paint that performs. It begins with an ultra‑calibrated base that honours Bianchi’s lineage — a respectful, darker underpinning that keeps the bike classically poised when shadows fall. Over that we stack interference layers and micro‑pearlescents chosen for their colour‑flip properties: gold‑leaning mica that sings in direct light, pink‑leaning interference flakes that reveal themselves as the angle softens.

The Patron of PRJT LUMA crashed and broken his Bianchi, brought it through some intense resurrection and carbon integrity checks before bringing his broken Italian stallion for restoration works. I think we got something really special.
